The San Fernando Valley’s own Field of Dreams!

There is no need to travel to the Midwest to find the mythical Field of Dreams. It has been located right here in Southern California’s San Fernando Valley, in the city of Encino to be exact.
Operated by VCAA or Valley Christian Athletic Association there is not just one field but 5 fields for youth baseball. The leagues range from T-Ball through Senior Baseball (not senior citizens but high schoolers).
Founded over 25 years ago this Christian organization is doing things right. Teaching kids values while training in teamwork as well as raising young men and women to be leaders in the local community.
I had the pleasure of spending the day there today with my family and what a time we had. The fields are maintained as well as any you will find. I have yet to see a snack bar as thoroughly staffed and stocked. One could gain a few pounds there in no time at all. The food was that good!
One thing of note that was really amazing was that the umpires are all players in the league. They are being trained to be umpires and they do get paid.
What a slice of heaven here on earth right at the corner of Victory and White Oak in the city of Encino.
