Old Man in the Room
March 26, 2010 Gary BowlesYou know I really don’t consider myself old. Well, not until I go up to my son’s school to pick him up or to another function. Here I am a fairly young looking 47 but at the school I always feel like I’m 75 years old.
Mind you, Dezmond is 7 years old and in the second grade. Most of the parents of second graders are in their late 20s or early 30s. Here I am the old man in the room!
I wonder if when graduation comes around whether he will still tell folks I’m his dad. Or will he just ignore me as though I’m not there hoping no one will ask him…
